Q: Can I renew Illinois Tabs in Washington without residence or Get new plates on a car without the title?
Today I bought a car from one of the Pastors in town (Washington) The car has Illinois license plates and the tabs expire this month, So i need to either renew the tabs from Illinois (don’t think that’s possible?) Or get washington plates on it. I don’t have the title, because she lost it and has already applied to get it sent to her from Illinois. I just don’t want to get pulled over for having expired tabs in the mean time
A: No. You shouldn’t have even taken the car and paid for it without seeing the title. But the answer is still no. Park it until you have it registered and titled in your name.
Q: How much will it cost to get new license plates for my car in Illinois?
I let my plates expire in February because I thought I was getting a new vehicle, but things didn’t work out and now I need to drive the old one again.
A: $78 standard

Q: Can i purchase a new car in Texas and register the plates in Illinois?
I would just use my parents address back home in IL but it would be driven primarily in texas.
A: Nope, that would be fraudulent. The car has to be registered and insured to the address it “lives” at. The exception is, if you are a full-time student, maintaining permanent residence in Illinois, you can get a student waiver. Since you have not mentioned going to Texas A&M, I assume you are not a student.
Q: I know in Illinois there is a Lemon law for new car buyers, is there any protection for used car buyers?
I just bought a used 2005 chevy monte carlo from a dealer in IL. 1 week later The trans is jerking ,I have a check engine light on, The brakes are squeaking, I can feel pulsating when i make a sharp turn, I bought a gallon of anti freeze and when I went to check the radiator and resevior the fluids are brownish. I just made a huge mistake…..any advice
A: How could there be a lemon law for used cars? That’s ridiculous. I’ll tell you what there is, though – there is a Federal law that requires dealers to desplay on EVERY used car whether it’s being sold as-is or whether there’s a warranty.
So you already know whether you bought it as-is.
Now, remember, nobody knows the future. It’s your car, and it’s your responsibility. You can’t turn back the clock and pretend everybody knows it’s going to have a problem in the future. Nobody knows that.
Q: What is the new car LICENSING FEE in ILLINOIS?
A: Tax in most cities in Illinois is between 6% and 8%. Title and license…
Q: Where do i go to get a new registration sticker for my car?
hi i live in illinois and my car sticker has expired 2 months ago and didn’t get anything in the mail from the state for a new sticker. so my question is where do i get a new illinois sticker. please help.
A: In Illinois, there are many “stickers”. If you mean a state sticker you should have received a notice in the mail. In any case, go here: http://search.dmv.org/dmv/illinois/sticker%20renewal
City of Chicago and suburbs have their own stickers and their own rules as do other Illinois locations.

Q: What are the illinois driving restrictions for a new driver to drive with others in the car?
How long do you have to wait after getting your illinois licence before you can driver with more than 1 non family member in your car?
A: For the first year of licensing, or until the driver is age 18, whichever occurs first, the number of passengers is limited to one person under age 20, unless the additional passenger(s) is a sibling, step-sibling, child, or step-child of the driver.
After this period, the number of passengers is limited to one in the front seat and the number of safety belts in the back seat.

Q: In Illinois, where can I lease a new car for only 180.00 month that is good on gas mileage? With 0 down.?
Does this exist these days?
A: Illinois leases are more expensive than leases in Indiana for instance. Illinois charges tax on the full sales price, where Indiana only taxes money down, rebates, and the monthly payment. This can add $50 – $100 per month to a lease payment simply because you are an Illinois resident.
In order to buy a car with a monthly payment of $180 for 60 months, you would have to finance a total of $10,800. This figure must include tax as well as interest, which means you need to buy a car that sells for about $8,500
Q: How can i keep my brand new car well maintained in storage?
I live in illinois. in april i’m buying a new car. It will be driven for two weeks and then stored, for 3 or 4 months.
What can i do to make sure this storage goes well for my car?
A: Things you should do;
1. clean first your car properly from the exterior to exterior so when you come back, it will still be clean
2. you have to ask somebody to start it for you, (open a/c) so to keep your battery and fluids working. it will avoid your battery from draining.
3. if there is nobody to start it for you, disconnect your battery to avoid draining
4. if possible park it in a covered garage with a car cover to avoid dust to build up in your car and also to avoid from scratches.
5. Make sure to put a lot gas if possible full tank it to avoid damage to your fuel pump.
Your car is new, there is nothing much to worry except your battery getting drain. Hope this helps!
Q: hi! where would it be cheaper to buy a car (new and used), in Illinois or Indiana? Thanks!?
i meant as far as taxes go…
A: Depends on where in Illinois.
Typically, if you know what you are doing at the negotiating table, it will be less expensive to buy a vehicle in the Chicago area as opposed to anywhere in Central Illinois or Indiana.
The reason for this is because the Chicago area is saturated with car dealerships. If you don’t like the deal you are getting from one dealer, you just go to the next one, which is normally 15-20 minutes away.
More competition = play the dealers against each other = better deal for you.
EDIT – Unless you are buying in Dupage County, Illinois and their taxes are higher than your county/state taxes, auto taxes are based on where you live, not on where you buy the car.
Some states will charge you sales tax, regardless, if you are from another state.
In other words, shop locally if taxes are what you are worrying about.
Q: In illinois, how long do you have to wait to drive more than one person in the car as a new driver?
is there an age limit or a time limit for new drivers? I have heard many different stories.
A: For the first year of licensing, or until the driver is age 18, whichever occurs first, the number of passengers is limited to one person under age 20, unless the additional passenger(s) is a sibling, step-sibling, child, or step-child of the driver. After this period, the number of passengers is limited to one in the front seat and the number of safety belts in the back seat.*
Q: I live in Illinois and lost the title to my car. Can I get a new one?

Q: Can you deduct anything from buying a new car in 2006?
A friend of mine bought a new car last year, and his accountant is giving him some deduction from the purchase. I also purchased a new car, however my tax preparer said he thought it is not allowed. Is it? I live in Illinois.
I forgot to mention, my buddy does own his own business. However, the business paid (and IS paying for) his car, there is no out of pocket for him. How does this work?
A: Certain alternative fuel vehicles — mostly hybrids — may qualify for a tax credit. The dealer will provide you with certification of the eligibility for the credit. File Form 8910 to claim the credit. Here’s a link to the form: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8910.pdf
Deductions for the use of a vehicle are limited to business use.
Deductions are not the same thing as credits. Deductions reduce your taxable income. Credits are a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your tax liability. The Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit is not a refundable credit so it cannot reduce your tax liability below $0.
